FC Barcelona’s Reshaping in the Face of Adversity

2 min read

FC Barcelona continues to face economic hurdles and various consequent sporting dilemmas in their quest to build a team under Xavi Hernandez that could look to compete well in the upcoming 2023/2024 official season.

The loss of 26-year-old French winger Ousmane Dembele, now made official by FC Barcelona, has been a massive blow to the Catalan giants but it also simultaneously acted as a blessing in disguise.

Along with the various investment opportunity Barcelona has recently managed to conclude concerning Barca Vision, as well as other departures such as that of Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie, the Catalan giants now possess enough financial maneuverability to register the stars in their team that were thus far unregistered in the records of La Liga.

Now having been made official on the website of La Liga, new 32-year-old Barcelona arrival Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City has now become the second player in the last few days after Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo to be registered by FC Barcelona.

The registration of both of these stars comes at a pivotal moment for the Catalan giants as FC Barcelona are set to kick off against Getafe this Sunday and Xavi Hernandez would ideally want for as many players in his team to be available at his disposal as possible.

Earlier, a report from Spanish journalist Gerard Romero also stated that once Barcelona manage to close down the various departures and financial injections, the Catalan club would prioritize certain registrations more so than others and took the names of both Araujo and Gundogan as the first to be registered by the club according to their original plan, which has now come to realization.

Barcelona previously had eleven players originally registered that included the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie De Jong, Eric Garcia, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, and Ter Stegen.

Now, the Catalan club can add the names of both the 32-year-old German midfielder and the 24-year-old Uruguayan defender to the list of players now registered with La Liga to be available for FC Barcelona moving forward into the official season.
