PEP Guardiola’s Back Surgery Forces Manchester City Manager to Miss Next Two Games

1 min read

Following Manchester City’s triumphant 1-0 win against Newcastle, Pep Guardiola, the esteemed coach, underwent unforeseen back surgery in his hometown of Barcelona.

The Premier League champions disclosed that Guardiola had been grappling with debilitating back pain for an extended period. Thankfully, the surgery was a resounding success, and Guardiola now embarks on a journey of recuperation in Spain.

A spokesperson for the club conveyed, “During his absence, the reins of the first team will be entrusted to assistant manager Juanma Lillo, who will guide the squad on the training grounds and during matches until Pep’s anticipated return. We eagerly await his swift recovery and his homecoming to Manchester.”

Regrettably, Guardiola’s absence will be keenly felt during City’s upcoming Premier League clashes against Sheffield United and Fulham. This isn’t the first time the coach has grappled with debilitating back issues; a similar incident unfolded in March 2011 when he was hospitalized due to severe lower back pain.

Remarkably, despite the odds, he led Barcelona to Champions League glory and secured a third consecutive La Liga title
