Barcelona’s Young Talent May Be Absent for Multiple Matches in November and December

1 min read

Lamine Yamal is rapidly making a name for himself at Barcelona, and he’s only 16 years old. He had his first senior match last season and turned heads during pre-season.

His performance against Tottenham Hotspur in the Joan Gamper Trophy was impressive, and he did well in the match against Getafe too. Now, there’s a chance he might start tomorrow when Barcelona faces Cadiz in La Liga.

But here’s the catch: Yamal could be away from Barcelona for almost a month later this year because he might play for Spain in the Under-17 FIFA World Cup in Indonesia. This means he won’t be available from November until December 3 if Spain goes far in the tournament.

Yamal was a key player in the Spain Under-17 team during the U-17 UEFA Euros this year, even becoming the top scorer with four goals. It’s likely he’ll get called up for the U-17 FIFA World Cup too.

So, he might miss important league games against Real Sociedad, Deportivo Alaves, Rayo Vallecano, and Atletico Madrid if Spain goes all the way in the tournament. He could also be unavailable for a couple of UEFA Champions League group matches.
