Barcelona icon Lionel Messi secures a place in the final trio of nominees, joining forces with Manchester City’s dynamic duo, Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne.

In the meantime, Ilkay Gundogan, the recent Barcelona recruit, clinches an impressive fourth position in the 2022/23 UEFA Player of the Year rankings.

The experienced superstar outperforms competitors like Kylian Mbappe, Luka Modric, Rodri, and Declan Rice, among others.

The 32-year-old midfielder’s spot is rightfully earned due to his contributions to Manchester City in the previous season, where he steered Pep Guardiola’s squad to an unforgettable treble.

Gundogan was an integral element of the Manchester City squad that triumphed in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and FA Cup.

Across all competitions, the German international made 51 appearances for Guardiola’s team, netting 11 goals and notching seven assists. This tally even features a game-changing brace in the FA Cup final against Manchester United.
