Barcelona Legend Carles Puyol Makes Sensational Return to Football Alongside Gerard Pique

1 min read

Carles Puyol, the iconic figure of Barcelona and Spanish football, is gearing up for a remarkable comeback to the world of professional soccer, under the management of his former teammate and close friend, Gerard Pique.

As reported by Diari d’Andorra (via MD), Puyol is poised to join FC Andorra’s transfer department in the upcoming summer. Notably, Andorra is owned by Gerard Pique and competes in Segunda, with Eder Sarabia serving as the head coach.

Since retiring from his playing career, Puyol has explored various roles in the football sphere. Initially, he ventured into player representation alongside Ivan de la Pena. Later, in 2014, he was a part of Barcelona’s transfer department but resigned when the Sporting Director, Andoni Zubizarreta, was relieved of his duties.

The precise nature of Puyol’s role at Andorra is yet to be unveiled, but it is anticipated that he will work closely with the current Sporting Director, Jaume Noguera. Interestingly, Puyol has made Andorra his home and was frequently seen attending games during the previous season.

After retiring, Puyol led a relatively low-profile life, with occasional involvements in various clubs and participation in legendary and veteran matches. As of now, Andorra stands in the second position in Segunda after two matches, an impressive achievement following their seventh-place finish in their inaugural season at this level last year.
